Kanha National Park
The Kanha National Park in Madhya Pradesh has a coverage area 945 sq kms. Being present in the center most state of India, the park is famous for many wildlife conservations schemes. It stretches over an area of 940 km2 in the two districts Mandla and Balaghat. Kanha National Park is the host of the major animals including the Barasingha or swamp deer, Indian wild dog and the most famed the India Tiger. The national park is famous for Tiger species and other attractions are Gaur, Sambhar, Chital, Python, Leopard, Porcupine and many more. The best time to visit the place is from November to June. To reach Kanha National Park, there are many roads connected and reached by buses. Near-by roads are Raipur (219 km), Jabalpur (169 km), and Mukki (25 Km). The nearest Railway station is Jabalpur Railway Station (169 km). The rails help to reach Kanha National Airport. The airport closest to this National Park is Nagpur Airport (266 km).
The Kanha Park is open for visitors from 15th October to 30th June and it best for visit during winters. But, when you need to visit Tiger, the best time to visit is in March as most of the greenery is dried due to the unbearable heat. This park is mostly renowned as the “Tiger Reserve” due to the significant amount of population of tigers in the Kanha land. As a lover of wildlife photography, you can click rare species like cats during the dry season. Some of the places in and around Park are Bamni Dadar, Kanha Museum, and Medicinal Plantation. There are many places to stay in and around the Park. The park has a significant population of the Royal Bengal tiger, Indian leopards, the sloth bear, Barasingha and Indian wild dog.
