The Palace on Wheels was the first luxury train ever started in India. It was a joint venture of the Rajasthan Tourism and the Indian Railways in the early 1980s. As soon as it was introduced, it quickly gained popularity. This luxury train tour package has redefined the meaning of luxury travel in the country and has taken tourism to a more advanced level.

Day 1 – Sunday
Departure- 23:45 hrs, Arrival- 09:15 hrs
The first city that passengers explore is the city of Jaisalmer, in the heart of That desert. It is also nicknamed as the Golden City because of the yellow landscape seen peculiarly across the city. The city is a World Heritage Site and is magnificently towered by the splendid Jaisalmer Fort.
After the arrival of the train at Jaisalmer, passengers can visit the various tourist destinations. These typically include Gadi Sagar Lake, Salim Singh ki Haveli, Patvaki Haveli, Vyas Chatri, the Jain Temples in Jaisalmer fort and many more, which are a great example of the fine architecture from the mediaeval period.
The lunch is provided on board, which can be followed by a Canal Safari in the Sam Sand Dunes. The passengers can then have a refreshing cup of tea and explore the marketplaces of the city. The train then leaves for Jodhpur after dinner at a hotel in Jaisalmer.
Day 2 – Monday
Arrival – 07:00 hrs
The luxurious carriage of the Palace on Wheels arrives at Jodhpur the next morning. The second largest city in the state, Jodhpur is particularly famous as a tourist destination because of its forts, palaces, and temples, for which the Thar Desert provides a backdrop.
The tourist destinations in the city are particularly dominated by the massive Mehrangarh Fort, a perfect example of splendid Mahals and massive gardens. The Moti Mahal, Sheesh Mahal, and the Phool Mahal are the famous palaces inside this huge fort. Jaswant Thada, Umaid Bhavan Palace, and the Khejarla Fort are other famous destinations along with temples and natural sites.
Day 3 – Tuesday
Arrival – 05.00 hrs, Departure 08:45 hrs
The train arrives in the city of Bharatpur early the next morning. The Lohagad fort stands magnificently in the center of the city. The Ganga Mandir and the sandstone Laxman Mandir are must visit sites when you are in the city. The Keoladeo National Park is one of the most famous tourist sites and is visited by a huge number of tourists on a daily basis, which can be visited after the breakfast.
Day 4 – Tuesday

After arriving in the city of Agra, the first place that every tourist will visit is the Taj Mahal. It is a wonder of the world and is a one of a kind, unique, and humongous monument built by Shahjahan in the memory of his loving wife. After lunch, visit the famous Red Fort and the Fatehpur Sikri, along with other destinations and markets in the city.
The journey ends with a dinner on board and a peaceful night’s sleep. The grip ends but the memories of this glorious trip will remain in the hearts of the passengers for the rest of their lives.
