Wedding Ceremonies in India: – When it comes to the event of a wedding, the numerous traditions with the associated rituals, pre and post wedding celebration embark the memorable moment of life. Irrespective of the community Indians do stand together in welcoming the marriage ceremony. The applied Mehendi color determines the love of her husband. No black and white attires are worn on that auspicious day. The handful of bangles plays a vital role in adorning the bride. The toe rings mark the significance of the married women. Covering the groom’s face with a veil is performed in different forms in different communities.

The richest traditional attire is worn and south Indians love to adorn themselves in Kancheepuram Saree and Dhotis. North Indians do wear their lehengas or sherwanis. The wedding ceremony comprises of a series of rituals that are usually presided over and conducted by the ordained priests. Applying vermillion powder on the parting of hair carries a physiological significance for a woman. The wedding ceremony date is usually determined by the bride and the grooms’ horoscope and it is calculated by the position of the planets so that they get a good celestial union relationship. The couple also exchanges garland during the jai mala ritual. The groom is finally adorned by the bride with the holy ‘mangal sutra’.
