How To Reach Corbett National Park


 

By Air:

Delhi airport is the nearest to Ramnagar which is approximately 295 km.

By Rail:

Ramnagar is the only accessible railway station to Jim Corbett National Park. There is a direct train from Delhi to Ramnagar.

By Road:

Arrive at Haldwani/Kashipur/Kathgodam and reach Ramnagar by road.

  • Annual rainfall: 1400-2800 mm.
  • Temperature range: winter lowers to 4°C and heights to 42°C in summer.
  • When to Visit: Corbett National Park opens only through the months of November to June.

To streamline tourists and for the comfort of tourists, the tourism management Corbett National reserve has divided the park into five regions with different entry and exit gates.

Dhikala Zone, Canter Safari Zone is open from 15th November to 15th June.

Bijrani Zone, Jeep Safari Zone, Day Jeep Safari is accessible from 5th October to 30th June.

Jhirna Zone, Jeep Safari Zone, only Day Jeep Safari is open throughout year but subject to weather conditions.

Dhela Zone – Jeep Safari Zone, Only Day Safari can be visited from 15th November to 15th June.

Sitabani Forest Zone (Buffer Zone) can be accessed all around the year.

Jim Corbett National Park known for?

Jim Corbett National Park is known to protect the endangered species Panthera tigris tigris, or the Bengal Tiger. Also the park is known to protect many amphibians, mammals and the reptiles of endangered and rare species.

When was this National Park established?

The national park was established in the year 1936 as Hailey national park to safeguard the Bengal Royal Tigers.  In 1950s it was first renamed as Ramganga and then the park got its renowned name Jim Corbett National Park. The Park got major establishments due to the British Sportsman and writer Jim Corbett.

Jim Corbett National Park is located in the foothills of the Himalayas and approximately 35kms from the northwest of Ramnagar.  The natural area is proximate in the southern Uttarakhand state.

  • Carrying firearms is strictly prohibited.
  • Keep a watch on the speed limit of the vehicle and don’t blow horns.
  • Non vegetarian food is not allowed inside the Park.
  • The transfer of entry tickets to another person is impossible.
  • Smoking, lighting not allowed in the Tiger Reserve.
  • Do not divert the routes from your designated area which may harm animals.
